Caelism of the Day

It really feels like fall today.  In fact, the maple tree in our backyard is starting to turn a bright shade of red and the air is crisp.  The clear blue sky and crisp air makes it feel like fall has stretched its arms around us.

And my kids are sick.

'Tis that time of year, right?  So I'm hoping you'll forgive my late and lackluster posting today with the understanding that I'd much rather chat with all of you, friends, than take my kids to the doctor where they inevitably appear to be the picture of health.

But I won't leave you empty-handed.

Cael has now completed two "official" days of preschool and abolutely loves it.  Well, at least I think he does.  I guess I don't know.  Maybe not.  You tell me.

"Cael, how was school today?"

"Good."

"What did you do?"

"Nothing."

"You did nothing all morning?"

"Nope."

"I know that's not right.  Did you read a book?"

"Yeah, we did."

"What was it about?"

"I don't know."

"Why not?  Weren't you listening?"

"I liked the book."

"Well that's good.  Did you color a picture?"

"I did, Mommy!  Here it is!"

"Thank you, I love it!  What is it?"

"A thing."

"What kind of thing?"

"I don't know."

"Okay, then.  Did you have a snack?"

"Mmm hmm."

"Was it yummy?"

"I guess so."

"What was the snack?"

"Something yummy."

"Do you like your teachers?"

"Yep.  I really like the lady."

"There are two ladies... which one are you talking about?"

"The one with hair."

"I'm pretty sure they both have hair, Cael."

"Oh, okay."

"Well I'm glad you like preschool, but I wish you'd tell me more about it."

"I will, Mommy."

"Okay, great!  Let's hear it!"

"No, not now."

"When?"

"Sometime..."

  1. Sounds like the conversation I have with Emara, how they forget what they did is beyond me - however she always remembers that they play, read stories about talking grass, houses, and tress, and about the little boy who hit her. Same story everytime -goofy kids.

  2. That's so funny... talking grass, houses and trees? Well at least you know that she has a good imagination!
