Ism of the Week

"Cael, look!  There's a robin's nest with eggs under the deck!"

"Mommy, are those Easter eggs?"

"No, no... those are baby bird eggs."

"But why are they blue?"

"Um... I don't really know.  They just are."

"Are there birds inside?"

"There will be, but the birds haven't grown up yet inside the egg.  It takes awhile."

Birds that similarly occupied our home, July 2009
"Can I eat them?"

"The birds?!?"

"No, the eggs!"

"No, these aren't breakfast eggs."

"But I like eggs with cheese!"

"Yeah, there isn't any cheese inside these eggs."

"But is there ham?"

"Huh?  No... why would there be ham?"

"Because that's how it is!  Blue Eggs and Ham!"

Thanks, Seuss.

    1. Shaz- Aren't those so cute? They took over one of my hanging baskets a few summers ago and when I went to take a pic of the eggs, I found the babies!
