Coming Events

I would like to consider myself a smart person.  I think I have surrounded myself with smart people and I hope I'm one of them.  But every once in a while I do something so ridiculously ill-advised that I think I must not be very smart.  You know, stupid-is-as-stupid-does level "not smart".  In this case, that poor decision was to go camping on what have been the hottest two days of 2011 thus far.

I've made this poor decision before, and the results of that trip were legendary.  Children many, many years from now will learn about us in history class and someone will name an elementary school after us out of respect.  Or maybe one of you will learn just a little something from me, and if there is one thing I can teach you, it is this: listen to the weather man.  Take it with a grain of salt, of course, and know that when it really matters, the weather will always do the opposite of what you'd prefer.  The weather is such a three year-old boy.

Amazingly, we had a wonderful time.  We worked out many of the kinks from last time and were able to better predict what was coming (other than the heat).  And as excited as I am to tell you about it, you all know that my brain shuts down at 85 degrees.  I'm simply too exhausted, yet gearing up for the surprise of the century for Cael tomorrow (Shh-- don't tell him!) and the festivities of the 4th.  Just enjoy your weekend from the comfort of your air conditioned home, and I will be back on Tuesday with a cooler, clearer head.  At least I have some sense left in me.

Happy 4th of July, everyone!

  2. Ugh, memories or nightmares! Thankfully this trip was better than the first, and I'm hoping each trip will get easier. Thanks!
